At last, the Government has made up its mind and announced that the Environment Agency’s watereways will be transferred to the control of the new BW charity organisation. This means that, amongst others, the Thames, Medway, Great Ouse, and Nene, and those in East Anglia will be under the same control as the canals, the Trent and the Severn.
This will take place in 2015 after the new BW crystalises in 2012. This seems sensible as some of the the EA navigations are quite diffferent in their needs and operations.
Let’s hope they get it right!
