This 10 mile extension of the Shroppie Canal is very popular as it is part of the Four Counties Ring and the link from the western canals into the Cheshire Ring. It leaves the Trent and Mersey at Middlewich and joins the Shroppie mainline at Barbridge Junction. It’s a very rural stretch once Middlewich has been left behind. There’s not much more to say about it except bon voyage, relax and enjoy the 3 hour cruise – as must have the poor devils who had to work the canals to live.
