While on holiday in the wonderful city of Bath, I couldn’t resist re-visiting Dundas Aqueduct just 4 miles along the Kennet and Avon.
This is a popular place with boaters, cyclists, walkers- Oh and photographers like me!
The temperature was rising after a cold start, and sociability followed suit.
I first came across a charming lady, Gill Jones, painting an artistic emblem on a boat with great skill – it was very good! She told me she was from Tintern (of Abbey fame) and did the painting part time. You can contact her on plover263@o2.co.uk. Here are two photos….
Next I came across a true canal merchant Mar Vickery. Based on the K&A he runs a cheese boat with his wife Claire and their super Jack Russel. From his boat he sells Snowdonia cheeses, Cornish ice creams, hot and cold drinks – plus somewhere to sit and eat – and a sociable host thrown in for free! They live on the canal in a second boat and plan to convert their third and newly aquired boat to a B&B soon. You can find out more and where they are currently moored on their website www.dawdlingdairy.co.uk.
Here is a photo of the cheese boat, Mar and his doggy….
