This annual event was held over the weekend of 26/27th June at the historic and very picturesque Braunston Locks, the Marina hosting most of the stalls and activities.
Approaching 90 historic narrow boats attended and created a quite different atmosphere to the mainly commercial events such as the IWA Festival and Crick.
There was a morning and afternoon parade of the historic boats over the two days which attracted crowds of onlookers in spite of the England vs Germany World Cup match at 3pm on the Sunday. The beer tent hosted a large screen television for those who wanted the best of all worlds!
The weather was superb throughout the event which heightened the feel good atmosphere, after all what could be better than pretty canals, bridges, locks and narrow boats in a truly glorious British Summer weather?
The parade took the boats up to Braunston Turn where the Grand Union meets the Oxford Canal. The canal was very crowded with boats of all sorts and it was a tighter than normal squeeze to navigate the area for the truly very skillful skippers.
A Slideshow shows how crowded the area was and catches one or two characteristic sights, boat detail and people.
A Slideshow of Turning shows you how one particular pair of boats went about it, turning around the junction and the two 1843 Horsely Iron Bridges.
