I followed nb Moonshadow through the busy canal centre of Banbury…… Expertly crewed by the live-aboard owners Reg and Sandra Moss, the (one and only) Banbury Lock and the Factory Street Lift Bridge were navigated with ease. Even the windlass raising of the bridge was handled quickly and with little apparent effort by Sandra. This friendly couple are constantly on the move, they told me, only stopping for any length of time when forced to by a frozen canal.

The canal centre is well maintained with colourful floral decorations, making the most the completely modern buildings. The only remaining historical building I could find was Tooley’s Boatyard building dating from around 1790.

Here are photos of the route through the centre (click on image for a larger view).
