It was a lovely sunny and warm day in March – sounds unlikely in the normal British climate. But, Spring (20+C) came for a week then left suddenly again as I write this on Saturday 31st…. just in time for the weekend!

For myself and others I met on the recently restored canal it was the ideal weather to appreciate the canal and pure enjoyment.

I met two very friendly and chatty couples negotiating staircase locks 4 and 5 and spared them no mercy, as I distracted them with my chat from their task of navigating the locks.

First through the locks was Ross and Barbara in nb North Scale, top 3 photos shown below. In the 3rd photo it would appear that Barbara was leaving Ross behind, but in the end she relented and picked him up.

They were closely followed by Anthony and Lien. Anthony very kindly let Lien do all the heavy work with the lock gates, saying that she doesn’t like steering into and out of locks – jolly decent of him I thought.

PS I don’t think my iphone got Lien’s name right. Please email me with the right spelling and I’ll correct things here.
