This is a superb canal running from Vines Park, near the centre of Droitwich, through the leafy suburbs and out into rural Worcestershire. There is a short reminder that modern civilisation is not far away when the canal passes under the A449 in a tunnel about 100yds long, and then it’s back to the rural setting in the run down to the junction with the River Severn at Hawford. The whole canal is 6 miles in length and is now fully restored and working well.

Confusingly, BW has renumbered the locks to run from 1 to 8 West to East, whereas the originals were numbered 1 to 8 from East to West. So Ladywood Lock is now number 8 (was 1) and Hawford bottom locjk is now number 1 (was 8). MY Geo projects map has the original numbering on and I’m not sure whether there has been a new version published with the changes by Heron Maps (I’m investigating).

Here is a slideshow of photos going from East to West and below my Google map of the canal with the route drawn in blue.
