Looks like the handover to the Canal and Rivers Trust may not happen as planned in April 2012. It appears that our government is being very slow again in pushing things through. The government funding on handover has still not been agreed and things can’t happen until it is. BW proposed such a National Trust  in May 2009.

We don’t have a fast track system in this country as there is in France, for instance. Another example of this is the HS2 high speed train line which was approved by the Government earlier this week, but…..before being finally given the go ahead ministers will introduce legislation to the Commons in late 2013 requiring a vote to authorise construction! France got it’s TGV during the 1990’s. Support the HS2 or not, let’s decide quickly to either build it or scrap the idea!
