While
wandering along the Braunston Locks on 22 June 2010 in glorious sunny weather,
I came across the smallest narrow boat I can ever recall having seen.
Aptly
named “Mouse”, numbered 0788 890784, with UCC Ltd squashed into the remaining
space on its side panel.
I
measured its length using my .75 meter stride and estimated its total length as
about 9 feet.
The
main question is “IS THIS THE SMALLEST NARROW BOAT STILL SURVIVING?”.
Other
questions are:
-
What is its history?
-
Who are/were UCC?
-
Who owns it now?
Maybe
BW, IWA or Braunston people know the answers.
Whatever,
it is a shame that the poor thing appears to be rotting away, and should be
preserved in a museum.
